Because Corll died before investigators could discover the details behind his horrific crimes, there's no way of knowing all of the ways the box was used. The existence of the air holes suggests Corll relished keeping his victims alive until he decided to finally bury them.

Although many of his victims were found with gunshot wounds, Corll preferred to suffocate or strangle his victims.
